Akacia Environmental commitment

Eco compteur akacia

The Akacia group’s environmental policy is based on three main philosophies:

Humankind has always been one of our group’s chief concerns.

> Training :

For health and safety: Environmental conduct, Movement and posture, Safety, First Aid, etc.

For professional development: Nurturing new employees from their arrival through a sponsor system, mentoring and integration of many young people through apprenticeships and training schemes.

> Forge a career :

For promotion and access to professions : The company integrates and develops people according to their competencies, allowing them access into professions and the opportunity to forge their own career.

  > Equipment :

Social benefits: Swap bodies, goods hoists and electric palette trucks prevent employees from sustaining injury and allow them to remain focused on their social life and their family. There is no longer any need to travel long distances or to work at weekends. We provide vehicles which conform to PIEK standards in a bid to reduce sound pollution in urban areas.

For personal safety: PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is provided and demonstrated to all employees, in addition to LWP (Lone Worker Protection) which comes equipped with an alarm and GPS. .

A principle of seeking savings at the very heart of corporate operation.

> Commitment to reduce CO2 emissions :

By reducing the consumption of fossil fuels, lowering speed, modernizing our fleet of lorries in conformity with the Euro5 standard.

> Promoting recycling:

By implementing a re-evaluation process for waste and the recycling of materials and structures in connection with the group’s internal activities.

  >An ethical purchasing policy favouring local suppliers and lowering transportation costs.

> Working on transportation flow :

Swap body (30% of our domestic transportation is carried out by piggy-back transport).

A serene commitment to sustainable development.

> Energy production :

Installation of solar panels at storage facilities.

> Reforestation:

Distribution of acacias and balanced reforestation activities which amount to the creation of 72kg of oxygen per day.

  > Education and awareness :

Activities for young people and the general public to help promote awareness (carbon offsetting is included in all of the quotes that we produce), using ant-hills to explain how a balanced ecosystem works. Reduction of CO2 emissions: commitment to reduce CoO emissions by almost 400 000 kg by 2012, amounting to roughly 19.77%.
